Title:  ADVOCACY COORDINATOR                          FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt
Reports to:  Executive Director                               Hourly Rate:  $13.94
 
 
The Advocacy Coordinator provides professional staff support to CASA volunteers to ensure that children involved with the CASA program receive sound advocacy and early permanency planning.  The Advocacy Coordinator is responsible for volunteer supervision, coordination of cases, and participation in volunteer training.
 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

 
Bachelor’s Degree in social-service field or equivalent combination of education and experience. The ability to communicate with, supervise and empower volunteers to be effective in their roles. The ability to work cooperatively with different types of personalities. Knowledge and understanding of issues and dynamics within families in crisis, i.e., child abuse and neglect, family violence, deprivation, and cultural diversity. Use of Microsoft Word required.
 
 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 
  1. Assist in the recruiting, screening, and training of new volunteers.
  2. Review new cases and assign appropriate volunteers in consultation with the program staff.
  3. Prepare and distribute case assignment documentation.
  4. Help develop on-going strategies for advocacy with volunteers.
  5. Review, edit and draft CASA volunteer court reports.
  6. Maintain case and volunteer files in office.
  7. Accompany volunteers on home visits as necessary.
  8. Attend court hearings and citizen panel reviews with volunteers.
  9. Track court dates.
  10. Provide assistance and consultation for volunteers as needed and when requested.
  11. Maintaining regular contact with volunteers.
  12. Assist volunteers in completion of volunteer/case statistics.
  13. Participate in volunteer evaluations.
  14. Assist in the evaluation of the program by maintaining statistics on child victims served.
  15. Maintaining a resource and information library for volunteers.
  16. Attend conferences, seminars, and meetings as requested.
