Ribbon Cutting Guideline Changes During COVID-19

Celebrating new and expanding small business is a favorite activity for your Chamber team.  As our Chamber and community work to safely reopen businesses, there have been several changes put in place to help keep our community members in place.  Your Chamber has made a few changes and recommendations in the way we host ribbon-cuttings.  As you review the changes, please keep in mind, the health and well-being of each citizen in our community is very important.  We ask that you consider these recommendations when hosting a ribbon-cutting.

Ribbon-Cutting Procedures during COVID-19
Due to the impact of COVID-19, ribbon-cuttings will look slightly different due to additional safety precautions that are being taken.  Our team will make every effort to follow the safety recommendations provided by medical professionals.

  • The ribbon-cutting will take place outside to allow adequate social distancing.  In the case of inclement weather, the Chamber team will work with you to reschedule the ribbon-cutting.
  • We will provide the ribbon and scissors for the event.  The scissors will be sanitized prior to and after each use.
  • Chamber staff will arrive approximately 10 minutes before the scheduled ribbon-cutting.  Chamber staff will not attend if they have been exposed to anyone with COVID-19 or are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.
  • One representative from the business will be asked to join a Chamber representative and the business owner/manager for the ribbon-cutting presentation.  The Chamber representative will welcome guests and introduce the owner/manager.  The owner/manager will be given an opportunity for a brief statement regarding the business and cut the ribbon.
  • We ask that you require your staff, family, friends, and those in attendance to abide by these safety precautions.
    •     If anyone is experiencing symptoms, feeling sick, or has been exposed to COVID-19, please ask them not to attend.
    •     Chamber staff will wear masks. It is at the discretion of the business owner whether guests are required to wear a mask.
    •     Please practice social distancing protocol.
    •     Please avoid greetings that involve physical contacts such as shaking hands and hugs.
  • Serving food and drinks are at your discretion; however, we recommend you serve individually packaged refreshments.
  • Chamber member ribbon-cutting:  As long as the state of Georgia is under the Governor's Executive Order for the Public Health State of Emergency, the Chamber will not invite ambassadors, board members, or council chairpersons to attend a ribbon-cutting. These groups will be notified of the event and encouraged to participate by tuning in to the Facebook LIVE presentation on the Chamber's Facebook page.
  • Chamber member ribbon-cutting:  A Facebook LIVE video will be produced at the time of the event and shared on the Carroll County Chamber's Facebook page.  The group photo will be shared on the website, the monthly Chamber newsletter, and in a press release to local media outlets.
    •     The press release is emailed to local media outlets; however, the Chamber is unable to guarantee the article will be printed and if so, when the article will appear.
